At OSSPI (The One State Solution Peace Initiative), we draw inspiration from existing Israeli-Palestinian initiatives that have made significant strides toward fostering understanding, cooperation, and peace. While OSSPI itself is not directly involved in these initiatives, we believe they serve as valuable examples of what is possible when people from both sides come together to work towards a shared future.
1. Combatants for Peace
Combatants for Peace is a joint Israeli-Palestinian organization consisting of former combatants who have chosen the path of nonviolence. They work together to end the cycle of violence and promote peace, emphasizing the power of dialogue and understanding.
2. Hand in Hand: Center for Jewish-Arab Education in Israel
Hand in Hand operates integrated schools for Jewish and Arab students in Israel. Their mission is to build a foundation of cooperation and coexistence from a young age, fostering mutual respect and understanding.
3. The Parents Circle-Families Forum (PCFF)
The Parents Circle-Families Forum is a joint Israeli-Palestinian organization comprising over 600 families who have lost loved ones to the conflict. They collaborate in pursuit of reconciliation and peace, sharing their personal stories and advocating for change.
4. Seeds of Peace
Seeds of Peace brings together young people from conflict regions, including Israel and Palestine, for a summer camp in the United States. Through dialogue and relationship-building, they develop leadership skills and work towards a more peaceful future.
5. Interfaith Encounter Association (IEA)
The Interfaith Encounter Association promotes peace in the Middle East through interreligious dialogue and cross-cultural studies. They bring together people of different faiths to foster understanding and respect.
6. Arava Institute for Environmental Studies
The Arava Institute is an institution where Israelis, Palestinians, Jordanians, and international students study together to address common environmental challenges. Their collaborative approach transcends political boundaries.
While OSSPI is not directly affiliated with these initiatives, we find inspiration in their dedication to peace and coexistence. Our goal is to learn from their successes and contribute to the broader movement for a peaceful and just future for Israelis and Palestinians.
